During the opening of the Second conference on Europeana, entitled "The Bulgarian content in Europeana", which took place on the 1st and 2nd October 2010 in Plovdiv, Bulgaria, MEP Emil Stoyanov announced that he will award 10 scholarships for students from the University of Plovdiv. This is already happening. Theodora Stoycheva, Marina Angelska and Teodora Todorova, students of "Linguistics and Information Technology" are the first scholars who are already working hard to digitize materials related to the cultural heritage of Plovdiv.

They work in Department "Special Collections" of the National Library "Ivan Vazov" and concentrate on processing and uploading on electronic media the cultural and historical facts from Plovdiv and the region, works which are to be included in the  common European digital library - Europeana. "We are delighted that we can gain valuable experience in digitizing, which will help us in future in our studies and to contribute to the presentation of our city in the Europeana project."

Special thanks to the initiative of Emil Stoyanov expressed also the Director of the Plovdiv library Radka Koleva.

The program will continue until September, when the last scholarships are planned.
